Black and White

This is a quick Umber and White demo I did for a family member the other day. I thought I would share it here and prove that I practice what I preach about doing value studies. They are worth so much to me and I enjoy the shift in focus. If you don't already practice these then get going. Get off the computer and go move some values around.

Just about to head upstairs and give it a go. Honest.
The impact that this sort of work has on your gallery work is obvious. Your value control is exemplary.

Thanks Mick! If I ever do a book I'm asking you to write the intro. You are too kind in your compliments.

Nice Danno. That is a solid painting. Really nice subtle shifts in there.

Hey Colin, thank you! It was just a quick piece but I just couldn't fail with my father inlaw watching.

Thanks for telling me to get off the computer - I went and painted 5 mini value studies! It's so easy to spend far too much time looking at other peoples work instead of doing your own. Your paintings are great, I like your style a lot.
