Pieces of America

This week I'm really counting my chickens and getting ready for Monhegan. I have been gluing linen to gatorfoam board, making monster paint orders, and picking the little things out of my studio (area) that I wont be able to live without for 5 weeks.. Also making "packing lists", boat reservations and figuring out how to get back in time for the Waldoboro "Paint the Town" (Aug 15th) my favorite plein air paint event. Oh yeah Ive been painting a bit to..

Anybody that has recommendations for what to pack please leave a comment I would rather hear "Bug spray" 10 times then forget or not think of..

Quote: "Why do people think artists are special? It's just another job."Andy Warhol (1928-87).
That guy makes me laugh...?.

Bring your cardboard box to hide in like Jamie W. :)

You really are applying the paint in a very assured way and your work is looking confident as well as distinctive. Taking this rich vein of form into your trip will be a blessing. That's the thing you need to pack, as well as a picture of your good lady.

Hey Mark, good Idea! I wish I could hide sometimes. Anyway hope I get to meet him while Im out there..

Hi Mick, I'm guessing your talking about the one with two red structures..?. I was painting at a very inspiring place for me, Spruce Head. I think it got more and more beautiful as the day went on.. Speaking of beautiful I already keep a great photo of my good lady with me, ask anybody who talks to me about her, I always take it out and show.. :)

Have fun out there. I recognized McLoon's Wharf at Spruce Head right away. Nice composition. I like both of these a lot Dan. It is going to take you forever to post all of the stuff you are going to get painted out there.
Take me, is what you need to take.

dan,
From my experience of painting on Monhegan, I would bring

lots of dry socks.
warm easy to dry shirts and pants.
bottle of gin.
tums for the pizza

A flashlight or headlamp with extra batteries. Also some big plastic bags, to sit on if it's wet or to cover your stuff up if it rains suddenly. Wool socks and rubber boots, to keep your feet dry and happy in tall grass and on wet trails. And a sunny attitude - Fog, yeah! All right! I love to paint fog!
:O)

Good luck on Monhegan.
You can really get into a great painting zone there. i always went after Columbus day.....pretty dicey weather....cold feet....smell of bait in my fish-house....but I loved it.
